About TCM Therapies
Acupuncture
Originated from China and popular in the East Asia, Acupuncture is the most well-known branch of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) in the UK and the western worlds. Traditional Acupuncture believe that the origin of many health issues can be traced down to flow blockages of the vital energy called “Qi” throughout a body. By inserting nowadays fine sterilized disposable needles into meridians (the channels of energy) at various acupuncture points, Acupuncture therapies can unblock the problematic energy channels and promote body’s own healing response and restore its natural homeostasis. In additional to some muscle relaxations, research found that Acupuncture can prompt body to produce the required beneficial natural substances such as endorphins for pain relieving or hormones for immune or reproduction systems etc. As a result, Acupuncture can help wide range of conditions from various type of pains, stress related issues to gynaecological issues and more. During an acupuncture therapy session with us, other complementary TCM therapies such as Cupping and Acupressure would normally also be carried out to maximize the outcome of every therapy session. Advice regarding some good and helpful diets, nutrition and exercises may also be provided during your therapy sessions with us.
Cosmetic Acupuncture
Cosmetic Acupuncture is an extension of traditional Acupuncture focusing on improving the elasticity of skin and general appearance. Cosmetic Acupuncture has been known to balance hormones, reduce stress, reduce puffiness, reduce wrinkles, scarring & pigmentation etc. Like traditional acupuncture, Cosmetic Acupuncture improves blood and energy circulation to your outer extremities by placing fine needles on multiple points of your body parts such as head, hands, legs and feet in additional to face.
Tui Na & Acupressure
Tui Na is a form of Chinese therapeutic massage which include also Acupressure. Working on the same basic as acupuncture, acupressure works on the body energy channels and points except that hands and fingers are used instead of needles. Sometime after a therapy session with us, you may be encouraged and instructed to do some self-Acupressure at home which helps extending the result of the therapy session.
Cupping
Cupping is a method of applying cups in which a partial vacuum is created over acupuncture points for therapeutic purpose. While Cupping can leave distinctive marks on skin, they are totally harmless and painless. Cupping therapy helps blood circulation, nature body detoxification and also been used to accelerate the healing of overworked muscles. Cupping marks were famously seen on the shoulders of Michael Phelps, the most successful Olympic swimmer of all time, when he was competing in the 2016 Rio Olympic.
